It was followed by Paranormal Activity 3 that yet again set another record upon its release. The third installation tells the origin of the demon that haunts the main protagonists. The events took place 18 years before the incidents in the first two movies.

Not much has been revealed about Paranormal Activity 4 aside from the news that it will retain the cast from the third paranormal and that the players in the original film will return. Directors Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost come back to share the director's chair again.
